Travel Guide To Argentina
By: Drazen Prastalo
One of the most beautiful countries in South America is absolutely Argentina. Placed near the Andes, between Chile and Brazil, Argentina has the perfect position. The weather is warm in the north and cold in the south which gives you a lot of options for your vacation to choose. You can go hiking, skiing, you can look at whales or you can just rest on their beautiful beaches. The choice is completely yours, but remember, you can’t go wrong what ever you decide to choose.
Before you buy a plane ticket you have to do a little research and
decide what part of Argentina you wish to visit and what is your
vacation going to look like. For example, first decide do you want to
spend your vacation close to the sea, or maybe in mountains or even in
country side. Than, choose a town, and so on.
The weather
Probably the only thing that can ruin your whole vacation is the weather. Because of that it’s completely understandable that most people want to know what is the weather like in the country they planning to visit. In this case it’s hard to speak about the weather generally because Argentina is so large country with lots of different terrain. But again, I will tell you what you can expect, that will help.
Placed in the Southern Hemisphere, Argentina has reversed seasons. If it’s winter in the US, than it’s summer in Argentina. The weather varies from north to south and from west to east. It is also different if you are closer to the Andes. The climate is ranging from the subtropical in the north to humid and steamy in the center, and cold in the south. The Andes region is very unpredictable, from erratic rainfall and floods to strong heat and snow on higher grounds. There is also a hot, dry wind called Zonda. Fortunately there is enough rainfall covering the lowlands, helping them to support swampy forests and upland savanna.
You can visit Argentina during the whole year, but just try to avoid far south. The winters there are really extreme and unpleasant. But not only that, many attractions and hotels are closed duo to low number of visitors.
The winter dry season is pronounced, and the summer heat can be brutal. Patagonia is mild most of the year in the east and glacial in the south. Weather in Patagonia can be very unpredictable and can change very drastically so be careful and prepared.
Conclusion about the weather – if you want to come and enjoy the summer than your time is from December-March. If you would like to enjoy in the snow and spending time skiing than your time is on June and July. If you are looking for the most enjoyable weather you should visit Argentina on March and April or on September, October and November.
Less or more crowded?
Like on every other country the most crowded times are during the holidays. Argentina is not an exception. If you want to avoid crowds than don’t visit Argentina during the Christmas or Easter holidays; the same goes for spring break. Those times are the busiest and because everyone is on vacations it’s normal to be crowded.
